Another business robbery in the Honeydew policing area.

Honeydew police are now investigating a second case of business robbery in a very short space of time following an armed robbery at a construction site on Boundary which left a security guard assaulted on 20 August.

According to Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan, the suspects attacked a security guard after the guard could not give the men keys to the storeroom.

Muthan said the guard first heard footsteps of on the site which got him suspicious and decided to patrol the area.

“He went to check [patrolling] and did not see anything. Upon returning to his seat, he saw three males, one armed with a firearm,” Muthan explained.

Muthan added that the guard was then attacked by an accomplice. “One of the suspects hit the guard at the back causing him to fall. He was thereafter handcuffed with his own handcuffs, held at gunpoint and demanded the keys to the storeroom,” he further explained.

Having failed to get the keys from the guard, Muthan mentioned that the perpetrators then broke into the storeroom and made off with five chairs and steps.

Business robberies have again escalated in the Honeydew police precinct. Last week a furniture shop in 14th Avenue District Shopping Centre in Constantia Kloof was robbed leaving the business in a loss.

Muthan said police are investigating these matters.
