Update: Police member was involved in shooting incident

Case is being investigated.

Krugersdorp Police have confirmed that one of the men involved in yesterday evening’s shooting incident on Piet Meyer Street is a police reservist.

According to Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, “Krugersdorp Police are investigating an incident which occurred on 31 July in Mindalore, Krugersdorp at approximately 6.30pm (one of the men involved claims it started at 4pm). It is alleged that a fight ensued between three males. One of these men was in possession of a firearm.

It is alleged that several shots were fired but luckily no injuries were sustained as a result of the shots being fired.

“Two males were taken to the hospital for medical treatment for the injuries they sustained due to the physical fight between the men. Krugersdorp Police are investigating a case of assault and discharging of a firearm in a municipal area. Relevant stakeholders were called to the scene to collect evidence. A firearm and ammunition were also confiscated. The one injured male is a reservist in the police,” she concluded.
