Parents lose everything in housebreaking

Couple left with nothing for their one-month-old baby

“The parents had nine months to collect everything for the baby they were expecting, but everything was taken away from them in one night.”

These were the words of Hennie Matthews, the Discovery Blockwatch patrollers captain, after a couple had lost everything during a housebreaking. “The incident took place on Sunday (23 July) and the thieves took all the electric appliances, as well as the baby’s things. They only have the clothes he was wearing at the time and those that were in the tumble dryer,” Matthews said.

According to Matthews he felt that he needed to help the couple, as it is just before the end of the month and the insurance will not replace the couple’s household items immediately. “I know that they have not received a salary yet, and the insurance will not replace the baby items. That is why I am appealing to community members to find it in their hearts to help with nappies, baby clothes and baby blankets. The baby is a one-month-old boy,” he said.

Should you be able to help, please contact Hennie on 074 260 2848.
