Five injured in Honeydew collision

Five injured in a collision on Beyers Naudé Drive and Blueberry Road.

A light motor vehicle collision that took place on 22 July at the Beyers Naudé Drive and Blueberry Road intersection in Honeydew left five people injured.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and found one of the light motor vehicles in the middle of the intersection, with its engine on the opposite side of the road. The second light motor vehicle was found some distance away, on the side of the road next to a boundary wall.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered two critically injured men inside the vehicle in the intersection. Two other patients were found in the second vehicle while a third, a female pedestrian, was found lying on the sidewalk. All three had sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics began their treatment of the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

A full investigation will be launched to discover the cause of this collision.
