Lights out: Power outage hits most parts of Roodepoort

Technicians say a substation feeder has tripped

City Power has expressed its sincerest apologies to residents of Roodepoort, amid a widespread power outage that has affected most of the city.

According to City Power officials, areas such as Princess, Florida, Wilro Park and Constantia Kloof have been affected.

The power outage is reported to have been caused by a technical issues at a Roodetown substation.

A technician says the substation’s feeder has tripped.

“We are at the substation assessing the fault. We will try to get it fixed as soon as possible. We really apologise for the inconvenience,” he said.

The power utility says residents will be notified on Twitter once the issue has been resolved.
