National Selfie Day

Share your selfies on #NationalSelfieDay

Thanks to social media and the smartphone, 21 June recognises a form of self-portrait that could not exist without them. Yes, it is National Selfie Day!

Today, everyone is encouraged to take creative – but still appropriate – selfies and share them on social media.

While the act of taking a selfie might predate social media, the popularity of taking these self-portraits has not faded and taking a selfie has never been easier. The selfie stick and multi-functional camera phones available today, make it all too easy to take these kind of photographs, including the group selfie – also known as the groupie. The word ‘selfie’ now also appears in the Oxford Dictionary.

National Selfie Day was founded in 2014 by DJ Rick McNeely. For more information on this day, visit www.nationalselfieday.net.

To celebrate today take your best selfie and share it on social media using #NationalSelfieDay.
