Copper thief caught red handed

The suspect was caught red-handed digging out copper cable.

A man in his late twenties was arrested on Friday, 9 June, at the corner of Houtkapper Street and Albertina Sisulu Road in Florida by officers of the Metro Police and the K9-Unit, said Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.

The suspect was caught red-handed digging out copper cable. Metro Police officers were alerted by security guards while the man was digging. Related tools were also confiscated.

In two other incidents, officers recovered a hijacked white Ford Fiesta in Westbury and a stolen white Ford Ranger abandoned in Rosettenville. The two vehicles were towed to the Aeroton Police Pound for further investigation.
