Knysna donations flooding in

Donations pouring in for #KnysnaFire victims. Thank you Roodepoort!

Since the Roodepoort Record has sent out a request to the community this morning to help the fire victims in Knysna, the donations have been streaming in.

The General Manager of Caxton Local Media Distribution, Peter Scully said they received two loads from Papaja Street in Weltevreden Park and another three loads from Pongola Street in Honeydew.

Water and bags of clothing were donated.

Sonette Beukes and Michelle Swart, Caxton West Rand Digital coordinators said they are extremely grateful for the public’s response to the call for help and have already received substantial donations of clothes and food at our office in Witpoortjie.

“We are overwhelmed by the goodness of our community and how everyone has gone out of their way to assist the Knysna fire victims,” said Michelle.

Sonette said they would like to thank each and every person who is helping those in need. “Thank you, Roodepoort.”

Caxton West Rand Business Manager Jeanette Peach said she received a call for help from John Bailey. “He said he collected so many things that they are spilling out of his double garage. I arranged with Peter to send trucks to load all the goods from John and another resident, Glynis Rozendo. This in turn will be sent off to Knysna either by truck or by plane.

“People in Roodepoort have such good hearts. They don’t hesitate to help strangers and this is the perfect example of how we all can stand together,” Jeanette said.

Glynis Rozendo sent photos of the amount of food she collected.

The video was sent in by the distribution department to show how the trucks are being unloaded.
