Big love for grandparents

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Grandparents vs children in skipping rope and hula hooping.

The love between Agape Christian School children and their grandparents was recently celebrated with tea, treats and a whole lot of laughter.

Each grade put on a short show for their grandparents, after which some of the children competed against the grandparents in a variety of activities, including skipping rope and hula hooping.

Grandparents are served tea by Grade 7s.

Small hampers were given to the grandparents who dared take on the children as well as to those in the audience who were the oldest or had been married the longest.

The Grade 7 girls had the task of decorating the tables and serving the grandparents; while the Grade 7 boys ushered in guests and fetched whatever their peers needed to keep the grandparents happy.

Grade 2s show their love for their grandparents through song and dance.

Between performances, principal Clarence Jennings kept everyone laughing with witty anecdotes.

School secretary, Teresa Jennings, said the annual Grandparents Day only gets bigger and better each year. This year it was held at NG Weltevreden Park church.

“The grandparents love the opportunity to see and interact with their grandchildren and the children get excited too,” she said. It was a special day for all and will continue to be an anticipated day on many calendars.
