These fur-babies need your help

Bonnie and Clyde in desperate need of a forever home

“I have done as much for them as I possibly can, but because of circumstances, I will not be able to foster them for much longer,” said Samantha Weyers.

She and a friend rescued two dogs that were running around Ontdekkers Park in the area between Christiaan de Wet Road and Schutte Street on 12 March. “I took them in to try and rescue them from a certain death. They were not in a good condition and it looked as if they had been on the streets for quite a while,” she said.

Since then, she has been fostering them, and has done all the necessary things, like having them sterilised, dewormed and microchipped, and has even made sure all of their inoculations are up to date. “I would like their new family not to worry about getting all of these things done, and spend as much time as possible showering them with love,” said Samantha.

Samantha’s situation has become a desperate one, as she is facing difficulties in keeping the two dogs with her, because of her complex rules, as well as financial issues. “I am not allowed to keep dogs of this size at my complex, and, even though I have received temporary permission to keep them, time is running out,” she said sadly.

Paws R Us South Africa has added Bonnie and Clyde to their records, but the two dogs could just not cope with being in the kennels. “They were at Paws R Us for about a week, but their stress levels were just too high. So I took them back to live with me until we can find them a good home,” a desperate Samantha said.

She added that the dogs are very friendly and loving, but do not like cats that much. “Paws R Us will assist with the home checks to ensure they go to the perfect home. We would prefer them to be homed together, and Paws R Us will help with a better adoption fee, if both of them are adopted,” Samantha said.
