Metrobus acting MD Sabata Makoele suspended by board

JOBURG – The board announced the suspension on 23 May.

The acting managing director of Metrobus, Sabata Makoele, has been suspended with immediate effect following allegations of financial misconduct.

This according to Yolisa Kani, chairperson of the Metrobus board of directors, who made the announcement on 23 May.

Makoele’s suspension was decided by the board pending a full investigation into the allegations.

“The board is acting in the best interest of the company to ensure minimal disruptions to business operations and to protect its long-term sustainability,” said Kani.

“It is imperative that this matter is handled in a responsible manner and within the [region] of relevant statutes so as not to jeopardise the investigation.”

Kani added that Metrobus would not be able to comment further pending the finalisation of the investigation.
