Seventy-nine speed demons caught

Arrests made near 14th Avenue off-ramp.

Officers from the Roodepoort High Speed Unit arrested 79 motorists in Joburg for travelling at excessively high speeds between 17 May and 21 May.

The highest speed was recorded by a BMW M3, which was caught at 226km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 north near the 14th Avenue on-ramp on Sunday. The arrested drivers will appear in various courts this week to face charges of reckless and negligent driving and excessive speeds.
