According to Hayes, The Deon Rothman Foundation will aim to assist victims in a hands-on fashion as well as financially. She said that often women cite financial dependence as an excuse for not leaving their abusive spouses. The foundation is in the process of registering as a non-profit organisation (NPO) in order to raise funds to rescue women and children who find themselves in dangerous abusive relationships.
