Gate motor theft cases increase in Roodepoort

Police opened a lot of gate motor theft cases during May

The Roodepoort Police are warning residents to be vigilant and ensure their gate motors are secured to prevent them from being stolen.

“In the past, we have opened a lot of cases on gate motor theft, but after the suspects were arrested the number of cases was reduced.

During the month of May this year, the number of cases increased once again,” said Captain Nonhlanhla Khumalo, the communications officer at the Roodepoort Police.

She added that the police are urging the community to keep their gate motor’s serial number in a safe place, should they have to identify their gate motor after recovery. “Residents must also install the gate motor’s bracket in order to reduce, and some cases even prevent, theft of gate motors,” she said.
