Baby Moses on track throughout April

Assist local charities

The Baby Moses Baby and Child Sanctuary has had a good start to the new year, with their children doing well in the term tests at school. They also took a small group of girls to the coast for a holiday.

Baby Moses has various initiatives and projects to ensure they are able to assist those who cannot help themselves. Their Bodibe Home in Mafikeng opened a day-care centre for 2 to 6-year-olds. The first group of 14 children have already been enrolled. The Reatile Foundation will help with infrastructure (they will be supplying the classrooms, library, toilets and doing the building, maintenance and electrical work). Due to the service delivery problems in the area, all roof areas (about 200 square metres) will be utilised as a rainwater catchment area and JoJo type drums will be used to store 7 500 litres of water for household use.

Baby Moses is also working on a vegetable garden. All three tunnels of the greenhouse have produced well. This year, they will be trying to grow veggies in a greenhouse, for year-round harvesting.

The granny flat and outbuildings at the Merle Street home will be converted into an emergency home for short-term placements, respite care and a training centre. Some of the organisation’s donors have already taken the initiative to start stocking the site and it will be operational in two months.
