UPDATE: Cradlestone Mall asks community to help feral cats

MULDERSDRIFT – Cradlestone Mall launches campaign in aid of feral and stray cats in the mall.

Cradlestone Mall launched an operation to help the feral cats around the mall.

This operation was launched on their Facebook page on 6 May, after the incident in the Mall’s Game store, where a cat was bludgeoned to death with a hockey stick by Game employees.

The post on their Facebook page reads, “Hungry feral and stray cats need your help. With your generous support, we can assist the feral cats. Should you want to assist, please donate the following at the Information Desk, located at Entrance 5.”

The items asked for are cat food, unwanted plastic, glass, metal or ceramic feeding bowls and water.

Monetary donations are also welcome to assist with the sterilisation of these cats and those who wish to donate are asked to email info@cradlestone.co.za

Comments from the community on the post claimed the incident at Game was the reason why the Mall decided to launch this initiative.

However, the Mall explained the campaign was set to launch a month ago but was only launched now as the Mall had to ensure the correct wording was used in the campaign, the design was approved, and the costs of sterilisation were obtained. The comment further said the Mall is donating R10 000 to sterilise cats.
