A Weltevreden Park resident ran for her safety and locked herself in the bathroom when her residence was being robbed in broad daylight on 20 April.
According to the spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station, Captain Balan Muthan, the homeowner heard noises from her domestic worker and decided to lock herself in the bathroom.
“The owner was sleeping on the first floor and the domestic worker heard a bang and saw two suspects [allegedly] kick open the front door and gain entry to the house,” said Muthan.

He added that the suspects allegedly tried to threaten the domestic worker to keep quiet while attempting to rob the house.
“The suspects told the domestic worker to keep quiet but she screamed. The second suspect then entered [the living room] and took a television and left in an unidentified vehicle,” Muthan explained.
He also confirmed that police officers were investigating a case of house robbery and no shots were fired or injuries reported during the ordeal.
