Alicia finds success down under

Tackling all top pageants

She went abroad to study and now nothing can stop Roodepoort resident Alicia Voges from excelling in various fields.

Alica was named second runner-up in the Miss Classic Diamond Australia 2017 pageant. She also came out tops to win the Miss Elegance title.

Alicia’s motivation behind entering such a competition was to inspire women to participate in such events.

“I want to inspire older women to participate in future competitions because age should not prevent one from living life to the fullest. This competition celebrates diversity and there’s no restriction in terms of age, size or gender.

Alicia learned a variety of skills during her time in the pageant, including fundraising.

“Coming from South Africa and participating in a competition in Australia was an amazing and priceless experience. I met contestants from all parts of Australia, the Congo, Nepal, India and the Ukraine. I learnt how to raise funds for my chosen charity, the Australian Childhood Foundation,” she said.

This was Alicia’s first pageant in Australia and her first competition in years.

“For now I’m focusing on completing my Criminology degree this year and supporting my family.”
