Roodepoort residents using Metrobuses to travel will not be affected by the Rea Vaya bus strike starting on 12 April.
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) has been informed by Piotrans and Litsamaiso – the bus-operating companies behind the Rea Vaya buses – that the South African Road Passengers’ Bargaining Council has issued a certificate allowing them to initiate strike action from 12 April.
Rea Vaya drivers will be striking for better increases, and while the negotiations between the employer and union representatives are in progress, there will be no Rea Vaya buses operating.
According to Putco’s Twitter account, the strike will affect them as well.
