Four injured in taxi collision off Hendrik Potgieter Rd

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Reckless driving suspected in taxi collision this morning.

Four people sustained moderate injuries on the morning of 12 April, after a taxi collided with two cars on Klapper Avenue near Hendrik Potgieter Road.

According to Arno Dorfling of BCI Security, the taxi lost control on a bend and crashed into the two vehicles.

“The first vehicle, a Nissan Sentra was hit on the side, and the second vehicle, a Madza 323, was hit head-on,” Dorfling said.

It is believed that the taxi driver was speeding.

Dorfling added that the injured were transported by various ambulance services to local hospitals.

“Three female passengers from the taxi had injuries ranging from leg, arm, back and head, and were transported by Vitalmed to hospital. The Madza driver sustained facial lacerations and was transported to hospital by ER24 and the occupants from the Nissan had no injuries,” Dorfling added.

Metro police spokesperson, Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed the collision.

Minnaar also appealed to motorists to be extra precautious on the roads as rain is expected over the next few days.
