Trinityhouse Little Falls celebrated Easter before the schools holidays with chocolate eggs and a themed dress-up.
Each child dressed up Easter style and brought a box of Easter eggs and a donation of R5.
Children were encouraged to do chores at home to receive the R5. The money was donated to the school’s outreach programme to schools in Ekurhuleni.
Carrying on with the Easter spirit, every year the preschool runs a class theme about eggs.
Included in this theme is the life cycle of the chicken, and to make this a concrete and memorable experience, Wild and Earth was asked to bring real eggs in incubators so the children could see them hatch into chicks in a couple of days’ time.
Wild and Earth is a programme which brings live animal encounters to schools.
The children were mesmerised by this amazing animal life process which took place right before their eyes. Wild and Earth returned to teach the children about the new little chicks.
However, the best part for the children was to be able to hold them in their little hand ‘nests’.
Isabella Francisco in Grade 0 said, “It was scary at first to hold the chick, but then it felt fluffy and warm.”
