Lize-Mari is a Mrs South Africa semifinalist

Roodepoort resident wants to do even more charity work

“Long before the thought of entering the Mrs South Africa pageant had even crossed my mind, I was involved in raising funds for various charities.”

These are the words of 43-year old Lize-Mari Kreusch, who is a Mrs South Africa Top 100 semifinalist. She grew up in Roodepoort and is not only a wife but a mother of three children as well. “I have two boys in primary school and a daughter at nursery school. I work full time and completed a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. I specialise in project management at First National Bank,” she said.

Lize-Mari entered the pageant as she saw it as an opportunity to do even more charity work. “Caring is one of my core values and I’ve been passionate about helping charities and people from an early age,” she said.

She became actively involved in fundraising in 2011 after visiting a shelter for abused children in Vereeniging. “When I visited for the first time, there were about 50 children between the ages of three months and 18 years, and they only had one pumpkin to feed them all,” she said.

That is when she decided to use her talents as an athlete to help those less fortunate, and she cycled 600 kilometres from Johannesburg to Durban, and used the money she raised to buy school uniforms, food and blankets for the children. There was also some money left to revamp the centre by repairing the toilets and installing a solar geyser. She also participated – with her sister – in the 2015 and 2016 94.7 cycle race as part of the Apocalypse Cows to raise money for Children’s Haematology Oncology Clinics (CHOC). “The Apocalyse Cows is a superfit group of cyclists who complete the race twice – 180 kilometres – in one go,” she said. Lize-Mari also cycled from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein as part of the Mosaiek church’s team – Arola – to raise money for Bible distribution in Africa.

She is very passionate about and dedicated to her family and loves spending time with her husband and children – especially next to the cricket and hockey fields to support her boys. “I want my children to experience many different things so they can later make their own choices in life,” she said. She also makes time to enjoy her other favourite pastime – ballroom and Latin American dancing. “My motto is simple, just celebrate life,” she said.

To help her continue her Mrs South Africa journey and be announced as one of the Top 25 finalists during the gala dinner at Emperor’s Palace on 28 April, vote for her by sending an SMS stating ‘Lize-Mari Kreusch’ to 35959.
