A motorist and the Metro Police have both lauded a traffic officer, Michael Moutlousi, for the good deed he performed recently.

Wentzel van Deventer and his wife were pulled off the road in a road-block on Tuesday, 21 March. Although they had their new licence disc in their car, the Licensing Department had failed to give them a licence disc holder, so the disc wasn’t displayed on the window. To the surprise of the Van Deventers, Moutlousi, who could have fined them, told them to wait as he’d be back in a moment, and went to his patrol vehicle. He returned, and presented them with a licence disc holder, and didn’t issue them with a fine.

Later, Wentzel wrote on his Facebook page, and said, “This is the type of community policing I was taught and I commend this Officer as an asset to JMPD and his directors. A very friendly and professional Officer”.
Wayne Minnaar, the spokesperson for the Metro Police, said Moutlousi had set a good example for the other officers.
