Children in Roodepoort tell us what they love about bedtime for World Sleep Day

WILGEHEUWEL – Young schoolchildren talk about their favourite part about bedtime in celebration of World Sleep Day.

World Sleep Day, celebrated on 17 March, is used to create awareness around important issues relating to sleep.

It is organised by the committee of World Sleep Society, which aims to ease the suffering of sleep disorders in society through better prevention and management.

In the spirit of sleep day, the Roodepoort Northsider asked children from Gicarli Preschool about what their favourite part was about bedtime.

Here is what they had to say…

JANIKA MAREE: I like the bedtime stories my teacher reads to me before afternoon nap time.

AMBER-JADE THOMPSON: I get to sleep in my own bed and ‘lekker rus’.

MANLEY DIDLOFF: I like bedtime because I can sleep next to my mom.

TYLER-LOUISE MOXON: I get to cuddle my carebear but I can only cuddle him once I’ve washed my hands because the fur is white.

MICHELLE HOLTON: I sleep with my teddy bear caterpillar and it lights up when I squeeze it.

SIPHESIHLE QWABE: I like bedtime because I have sweet dreams.

JULIETTE ROBERTS: I sleep in my own bed and feel like a big girl. There is even enough space for me to sleep sideways.

JAYDEN TSVANGIRA: I get to cuddle with my teddy bear.

JAYDEN SWART: I get to cuddle with my mom and dad and I feel safe.
