Celebrate #NationalLibraryWeek with no fines

Use this opportunity to return all overdue library books

Have you borrowed books at your local library and forgotten to return them? Not sure what to do with these overdue books?

The City of Johannesburg’s Library and Information Services have the answer for you. “As part of National Library Week, which takes place from 18 to 26 March, we are declaring a fine-free period for library users to return all their overdue books,” said Nobuntu Mpendulo, the Director of Library and Information Services.

The fine-free period will form part of the the Library Week celebrations and will run from 18 March to 1 April. During this period, should you return an overdue book, you will not pay any fines. “All library users are urged to return overdue books to their nearest local library. You will not pay any fines and no questions will be asked,” said Mpendulo.

Library users were also assured that, upon return of these books, their library membership could be reinstated upon request.

The local libraries are:

– Davidsonville Library, on the corner of Minnar and Campbell Streets, Davidsonville

– Florida Library, on the corner of Church Street and Third Avenue, Florida

– Horizon View Library, at the Village Shopping Centre, corner Crane and Sonop Streets, Horizon

– Roodepoort Library, on the corner of Berlandina and Hodgson Streets, Roodepoort

– Wilro Park Library, at the Wilro Park Shopping Centre, Mimosa Street, Wilro Park

– Witpoortjie Library, in Payne Street, Witpoortjie.
