Charity Stores needs your help

“If one looks at the projects we support, such as beekeeping and hydroponic vegetable gardening, it’s easy to see that both work hand in hand to benefit the environment, at the same time ensuring food security and honey production."

The Charity Stores, a non-profit organisation (NPO) has, for decades, assisted other charities with equipment and infrastructure donations to develop self-sustaining projects. The NPO’s Robert Miller said the purpose behind each and every donation is to make other NPOs less dependent on financial contributions, whilst at the same time create employment opportunities for the dependents of those charities.

“If one looks at the projects we support, such as beekeeping and hydroponic vegetable gardening, it’s easy to see that both work hand in hand to benefit the environment, at the same time ensuring food security and honey production.

“Naturally we depend massively on the support of the community. People donate all their unwanted goods to us and we then sell these items in our charity shops to raise funds for our current and future projects.”

Late last year, the Charity Stores opened new shops in the Craft Centre of Sparrow Ministries and are appealing to the public to support the new initiative with donations of clothing, shoes, ornaments, glassware, paintings, linen, books, jewellery, curtains, toys, baby goods, furniture and various other items.

The NPO also needs babies’, children’s and men’s clothing as these are always difficult to get and in short supply. Contact Robert on 082 787 6997 to arrange collection or send an email to Robert@thecharitybox.co.za.
