Watch a movie at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden

Bring the whole family and enjoy a movie under the stars

Pack your picnic basket, grab the family and zoom off to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden for an unforgettable open-air experience.

Starting on 24 March, the botanical garden will be the host of an open-air film show that will take place on every first Friday of the month. Steff van Zyl, from African Sky Cinema, said that they are very excited to launch this event. “We aim to bring families back together on Friday evenings by creating an open-air cinema experience under the stars. We create a cozy atmosphere with entertainment and enjoy seeing people relaxing and having fun,” she said.

The first event will take place on 24 March from 5pm. “The launch promises to be very exciting, so you should not miss it!” an excited Steff said.

The movie that will kick off the first of many at the garden, will be Transformers, but in addition to the movie screening there will also be some special guests to entertain young and old. Two dance performers will be wearing Iron Man and Optimus Prime extreme suits, and will be performing for the crowd from 6:15pm to 7pm. The movie will start at 7pm.

Although you are allowed to bring your own picnic basket, there will be a variety of food stalls available selling coffee, waffles, stacker sandwiches, smoothies, candy floss, popcorn and much more.
