14 March is celebrated annually as National Pi Day, a day celebrated by both pi enthusiasts and pie lovers alike!.
The 14th day of the third month of the year is a consistent day to celebrate the mathematical constant ?, that is also known as Pi, which is depicted by the digits 3.14.
The earliest known official, or large scale celebration of Pi Day was organised by Larry Shaw in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium, which is still celebrating this day. The U.S House of Representatives passed a non- binding resolution on 12 March 2009 in which it recognised 14 March as National Pi Day.
Everyone celebrates Pi Day differently – some of the celebrations include:
– Eating a slice of pie,
– Pie-eating contests,
– Discussing the significance of the number ?,
– In recent times, watching the film – The Life of Pi,
