Chicken Licken: Lawyer wants hard proof

'Communication has been non-existent," said complainant.

The Florida Park Neighbourhood Watch (FPNW) has taken the next step in their fight to prevent a Chicken Licken drive-thru outlet from opening in their neighbourhood.

Last week, the council said although the franchisee had met most of the requirements of the application process, he would have to resubmit the application for rezoning, and the complainants would have to resubmit their objections.

Two of the requirements that are alleged to have been met were proof that the franchisee had advertised in two newspapers, i.e. Beeld and Citizen, and photographic evidence of his notice of intent. But now the FPNW wants solid proof, and on 3 March their lawyer sent the council an urgent request for the documents proving the above allegation.

By 8 March, the complainants had yet to receive the documents requested. They have indicated that they will once again request the documents on 9 March.
