West Ridge High on the up

The Record would like to emphasise that the learner, Mathapelo Mashigo, who was pictured in the article ‘School does well in random search’ was not found with any drugs.

The learner, who is currently in Grade 12, was victimised after her picture was published in the article which detailed the Roodepoort Police’s random search at the school. West Ridge High School has been working hard to ensure hard work, discipline and top academic performances reign supreme at the school.

They have a myriad of programmes across all grades to ensure that learners are excelling in all of their subjects and extra-mural activities. The school has a weekly programme scheduled before and after school. This programme consists of extra classes for learners. Along with the weekend school programme, where internal and external educators tutor learners in critical subjects, the school ensures its learners receive the assistance they need in subjects they are struggling with. The school also has a full and varied extra-mural programme, focusing on sports and cultural activities. The Glee Club, an acapella group, which represented the school in various competitions, are the current champions. The school also has an instrumental group which will compete at the South African Talent Championship (SATCH) this year.

These are just some of the activities the school is using to bring unity to the school and provide a positive and uplifting environment for all pupils.
