Armed robbery suspects in court

STRIJDOM PARK – Five suspects involved in last Thursday's business robbery are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court today.

Five suspects are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 7 March facing multiple charges related to a business robbery.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 36 were arrested on 2 March by CSS Security in conjunction with the police, for allegedly robbing a Sasol garage on Beyers Naude Drive, Strijdom Park.

According to Captain Balan Muthan, Honeydew police spokesperson, the suspects were charged with business robbery, possession of stolen property, unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“Five suspects aged 27 to 36 were arrested after a robbery at the garage by police and two firearms and goods were recovered,” Muthan said.

Ahead of the arrest, a car chase and shootout ensued between the armed gang and CSS Security with backup from the police. CSS Security reacted to the robbery in progress after an employee pressed a panic button to the alert them.
