Warning: Why is this man photographing children?

Man spotted at Laerskool Roodekrans as well as a nearby crèche.

Parents and community members have raised their concerns about a man who was spotted allegedly taking photos of learners at Laerskool Roodekrans.

A woman told the Record that yesterday (28 February) her son told her that a strange man had asked him in which grade he was. Later in the evening when she received a photo of a man one of the parents had taken and posted on WhatsApp, she asked her son whether it was the man he had told her about and he confirmed it was. Although the Record has a photograph of the man it can not be published for legal reasons. The man is of average height and build, and has dark brown hair. He seems to be in his forties. Yesterday he was wearing a dust-grey T-shirt and blue jeans. In the photo he holds what looks like a notebook and a white smartphone. He was allegedly hiding behind a tree when he took the photos.

The man has also been seen in the vicinity of Wikkelvoetjies Crèche.

Laerskool Roodekrans spokesperson Theoline Pienaar said the school is aware of the man and has taken extra security measures. The school has also alerted Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch of his presence in the area.
