Honeydew police warn against walking solo

LITTLE FALLS – Police send warning to lone walkers after attempted rape incident

LITTLE FALLS – Honeydew police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan has issued a warning to residents, particularly women, to refrain from walking alone in secluded areas especially in the evening or early hours of the morning.

The warning comes days after a woman fought her way out of a rape situation in Little Falls on 21 February.

Police are still on the hunt for the man who allegedly attempted to rape the woman.

According to a Facebook post by SRT Security, the incident occurred at 10pm on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Cascades roads – the same corner where a woman in her 20s was found raped and murdered about a year ago.

The would-be rapist was stopped by the victim when she bravely punched him, tearing his upper lip.

She then contacted the security company for assistance.

The suspect is said to have been wearing a yellow soccer T-shirt and blue washed denim trousers.

According to the victim, the suspect is of average build, has large lips and short hair.

While police are still investigating the matter, Muthan added that if residents take notice of their surroundings and avoid hanging out with strangers and clubbing, fewer incidents of rape would occur.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the police.
