Little Jays learn about Buddies and Baddies

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Mr ADT shared his knowledge on personal and home safety with Little Jays Nursery School's children.

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Little Jays Nursery School welcomed Gary the Gun, Po the Kung Fu Panda and, of course, Mr ADT into their classroom for a talk on safety.

Johannesburg entertainer, Darin McDowall, also known as Mr ADT, put on an interactive show for the children to highlight different safety issues on 23 February.

The show, Buddies and Baddies, taught the children personal safety around dogs, guns, knives and who to call in case of an emergency.

They were taught not to touch certain objects such as a stove and never put anything that looks like food and/or drinks, into their mouths without their parents’ permission.

Throughout the show, the children were entertained with magic tricks that have an underlying message, which is made clear at the end of the trick. The fun-filled show has been successfully rolled out in Gauteng and in the Western Cape to rave reviews from both teachers and the little ones.

Principal at Little Jays, Janette McHugh explained she gets Mr ADT to give a talk to the children every year. “We link the show to the safety we teach at schools such as not to touch hot things in the kitchen and give them the number for the police. It’s nice for the children because it is a fun way for them to learn and process the information.”

The shows are hosted by ADT free of charge to schools.

Should a teacher or parent be interested in booking a show for their school, they are welcome to contact Ntando Ndokweni on nndokweni.za@adt.co.za for further information.
