WELTEVREDEN PARK – Newly appointed prefects at Welridge Academy have the huge task on their hands of ensuring that the values of the school are upheld by all schoolchildren.
The school appointed a select group from Grade 6 and 7 as prefects for this year.
On 21 February, the prefects were invited to the school hall to receive their unique yellow ties embroidered with the school logo and the word ‘prefect’.

Grade 7 teacher and leadership coordinator, Mariska Basson shared the school’s policy regarding school prefects.
“It is important to be able to follow by example and be on the floor and assist the school to uphold its values, and [it is also] to develop leadership skills in order to groom them for a better future,” Basson said.
Head prefect, Zandie Sithole (12) told Roodepoort Northsider, “A lot of hard work and paying attention in class got me into this position.”
Sithole’s deputy, CeeJay Anthony vowed to assist her schoolmates and other prefects and their duties.
