Ruiter’s new leaders

Laerskool Die Ruiter's head leaders

Laerskool Die Ruiter is proud to have chosen its head leaders for the new year. Tlotlo Mocwira and Orifah Mudzunga will be the head girl and head boy respectively. They will be assisted in their duties by deputies Refilwe Maseko and Sthembiso Mogano.

Principal Antonie Marais said he is proud of the leaders who were chosen to become a positive example for the learners.

“On the first weekend of the school term the candidates went on a camp where they received development and leadership training. The course leaders along with the teachers then decided which of the suitable candidates were to become leaders,” he said.

Sthembiso said he was not expecting to be chosen as one of the head leaders of the school.

“I am honoured and proud to be given such an opportunity to represent my school in a positive manner this year,” he said. His sentiments were echoed by head boy Orifah who has been working hard to be chosen as a leader.

“I was both nervous and happy but I know that my hard work has paid off. Now I want to lead by example,” he said.

Head girl Tlotlo said she honestly did not know why she was chosen but that she would work hard to live up to expectations.

“I am told I am bold and a good leader but I do not see myself that way. However, I want to prove to everyone that I can do what is required of me,” she said.

Refilwe who describes herself as very shy said she was elated at being one of the head leaders of her school.

“I was so happy I screamed when I heard I was chosen. I was so excited and went to bed that night so joyful that my cheeks hurt the next morning,” she joked.
