ALLENS NEK – Many of Allen Glen High School’s teachers outshone the others at the recent D12 district awards evening.

“Allen Glen High School is proud of its teachers who received awards at a recent gala event, hosted by the Gauteng Department of Education, Johannesburg West. This annual event honours the top achievers of the previous year’s matric class and the teachers responsible for obtaining the highest average per subject within the district,” said the School Governing Body chairperson, Warren MacKrill.

The following teachers were lauded for achieving excellent results in their respective subjects:

Jackie Barnard for design; Jane Kruger, Christelle Venter and Louise Marais for computer applications technology; Jackie Martin for travel and tourism; Arnold du Plooy and Raymond Pather for mathematics; and Leon du Toit, Gerhard van Schalkwyk and Paul Nortjie for maths literacy.

Each teacher received a certificate for top educator in their respective subjects. Additionally, Kalisa Ndamage achieved top pupil in English home language.

The teachers all agreed that they were proud of their achievements and that it took hard work and dedication, but they also wanted to acknowledge the 2016 group of Grade 12s who were committed, as they are the beneficiaries of a hard working group of pupils.
