National Make A Friend Day

Meet someone new on #NationalMakeAFriendDay

National Make A Friend Day – which is observed annually on 11 February – is a wonderful opportunity to meet someone new and forge a new friendship.

Friends play a very important role in everyone’s life and are one of life’s most valuable assets. Like Hellen Keller said, “Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light”.

New friends can assist in broadening our horisons by helping us to see new perspectives, challenging us to try something different or connecting us to opportunities. Our social skills can be sharpened when we meet new people, and it can prevent us from becoming lonely. Ed Cunningham summed a friend up in one sentence when he said, “Friends are those rare people who ask how you are and then wait for the answer.”

Friends – while often sharing common backgrounds or experiences – don’t always have to have everything in common. One of the easiest ways of making new friends, is to explore your personal interests by taking a class or joining a club.

To celebrate today, go out, and make a new friend!
