A biker was lucky to sustain only moderate injuries after crashing into a traffic light during the evening of 31 January.
The accident took place at about 7.45pm. The rider was travelling on Ontdekkers Road in the direction of Westgate Shopping Centre. When he came to the intersection with CR Swart Road he wanted to take the slipway but he failed to make the turn and collided with the traffic light. It was also pointed out at the scene that there was a substantial amount of gravel on the road, which could have contributed to the accident.
The man broke his ankle, but ER24 paramedics said they were also concerned about a possible neck injury.
The accident will be the subject of an investigation by the Metro Police.
