Jozua Naude’s head leaders

Head leaders selected

Jozua Naude Primary School has selected their new head leaders for the year. Phathu Mainganya was chosen as head girl while Kabelo Sithole was chosen as head boy at the school’s recent Honours evening. Phathu said she cried tears of joy when she heard her name announced as the head girl.

“I did not expect to be chosen but I was so happy that tears just fell. My aim for this year is to be successful and positive,” she said. Her sentiments were echoed by Kabelo who said he also did not expect to be head boy because he is a little naughty.

“Because of that, I did not have any expectations but I was excited and surprised to be chosen,” he said.

Principal Mzwakhe Hlatshwayo, who introduced new criteria for selecting head leaders, said he was proud of how the selection proceeded and how unique it has become.

“We used to have a culture of selecting head leaders based on their academic performance and looking past their other transgressions such as discipline problems, leadership qualities and overall performance. Now however, we look at not only academic performance, but incorporate unique challenges and training for the candidates to ensure we have chosen the right leaders,” he said.
