Police make 28 arrests

Two arrested in two separate incidents.

Last week Roodepoort Police arrested 28 suspects on various charges.

On Wednesday 4 January police members were patrolling in Sol Plaatjes in Durban Deep when they spotted male acting suspiciously. The police approached him but he started running. They pursued him and caught him. On searching him they found illegal ammunition. The 38-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Roodepoort Police Station.

On Friday 6 January the police conducted a special operation during which they did stop-and-search investigations. Twenty-seven suspects aged between 25 and 45 were arrested for various crimes, which included dealing in dagga, possession of dagga, fraud, theft, assault GBH, reckless and negligent driving, attempted car theft, malicious damage to property, drinking in public and possession of car-breaking implements.

The suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
