Ten tips to survive a New Year’s Eve party

Do not end up regretting your revelry.

For many it is probably the biggest bash of the year, but not planning can make you end up regretting your revelry.

Here is your New Year’s Eve survival guide:

• If you are going to a house party, pick up your drinks early. If at a house party you could hide them in the washing machine, microwave oven or even the toilet cistern.

• If you are on the older side a dinner party might be a better option than a regular house party where you do not know half the guests.

• Try to go to a party that is walking distance from home or organise a designated driver. Whatever you do, do not drive drunk.

• Avoid drama at all costs. Avoid those friends who like to pick fights when they are inebriated or the couple that are guaranteed to have a tiff at 1am.

• Be sure you have that special person with you that you would want to smooch at midnight.

• Do not try to party-hop from one party to another – stick to one and enjoy it.

• Rather choose to spend the evening with fewer quality friends than a large quantity of acquaintances.

• Clean your own place before going out for the night. When you return you would want to unwind in comforting surroundings.

• Make sure there are hangover remedies for the day after …

…or just stay home and avoid all the insanity!
