Paying your City of Johannesburg accounts made easy

Follow these easy options to pay your accounts this festive season

Wondering how to pay your municipal accounts during the holiday season? For your convenience, the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering a variety of options, including:

1. Direct deposits to Standard Bank:

– CoJ accounts can be paid by making a direct deposit over the counter at any Standard Bank, country-wide.

– Just insert the unique beneficiary number allocated to the CoJ in the account number field (AA45).

– To ensure your deposit is allocated to the correct municipal account, you should use your nine digit municipal account number in the depositor’s name or reference field.

– You need to ensure that all over-the-counter payments are accompanied by your account.

2. Internet payments:

– Delete the old CoJ beneficiary (Absa account number 4054398463) and add the pre-loaded beneficiary titled City of Johannesburg Company Beneficiary.

– You should use your nine digit municipal account number as a reference when making payments.

3. ATM, telephone banking and other:

– If you are a customer making payments via stop order, telephone banking or the ATM, you have to change the banking details at your own bank. If you are using a debit order, no changes need to be made.

4. Third party payments:

– Third party payments can be made at Pick n Pay, Checkers and Woolworths.

– You need to have your account with you to use this method.

– Customers have to remember that payments made at these stores may take up to five days to register on the City’s system.
