Update: This is what REALLY happened during hijacking

Suspects were arrested.

After at least three sources told the Record that a child was taken during last night’s hijacking in Van Lill Street, we can now confirm the details of the incident.

According to Frik van Zyl, spokesperson for the West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) whose patroller was on the scene, it was not a child that was kidnapped – it was a 25-year-old male. The homeowner, his wife and their son were at home when they heard someone at the front door. The son went to investigate and when he opened the door one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him. He immediately slammed the door in the suspect’s face.

At the same time, the couple’s second son arrived in his vehicle and pulled into the driveway. There he and his vehicle were hijacked by the suspects.

The suspects threw him out of the vehicle in Slovoville. A tracking company managed to trace the vehicle to Soweto and the suspects were arrested.
