Miss SA High Schools winner

Miss SA High Schools

Jasmine Adams, from St Catherine’s School in Florida, was crowned Miss High School South Africa last weekend. She was awarded her title at a glitzy and prestigious event that was held at the Roodepoort Theatre.

The objective of the pageant is to empower young girls through education, which means that the winners receive bursaries for university, and participate in charity work, thus building social awareness and responsibility among them. This will also build confidence and leadership skills as the winning girls will become role models in their schools, communities, other schools and to young children across the country. The finalists are also mentored by influential women in the corporate, business, social and even political world. This competition sees more and more high school girls striving to take care of themselves, their femininity, their beauty and their academic studies, in order to be chosen to participate in the pageant, where not only beauty is sought after – leadership and intelligence are also prerequisites.

The competition entrants were 20 young high school girls from the provinces of the Eastern Cape, Polokwane, Mpumalanga and North West, amongst others.

One of the prizes that Jasmine has been awarded is the opportunity to visit the Seychelles for a week.
