A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured this morning after he was knocked off his bicycle on 14th Avenue, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
At the scene ER24 paramedics found a light motor vehicle in the middle of the road with a crushed bicycle lying a few metres away. A man was lying next to the vehicle.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. ER24 paramedics immediately initiated CPR and advanced life support interventions to revive the patient.
After 20 minutes of treatment, the patient’s vital signs returned. The man was rushed to Life Flora Hospital for urgent treatment.
The driver of the light motor vehicle was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
