Baby Moses ready for New Year

Organisation grateful for good year

For Baby Moses Baby Sanctuary 2016 has been a rocky year, having had their share of ups and downs.

Some of the most significant highlights include various trophies and awards, with two boys winning the overall prize in their categories at the Eisteddfod. Young Debbie’s surgery to fix her fingers was done free of charge at a local hospital. Now she is no longer embarrassed about her hands. The sanctuary also established three vegetable patches. This project has been very successful and some of the children were so inspired, they started their own vegetable patches, growing everything from sunflower seeds, peas, plants and trees. The 20 fish in the Sanctuary’s fish pond have multiplied into a school of over 200 fish. The children help to redirect waste water into the garden and veggie patches.

This year two homes were painted and a heavy-duty washing line was put up. One of Sanctuary’s last big donations for this year is the heat pump that was installed to reduce the electricity bill, and the Sanctuary receiving bunk beds for more children.

However, the Sanctuary still needs assistance with a variety of issues that will help the staff to care better for the children. Some of the needs include groceries, clothing, furniture and household items, a sponsor for the monthly transport fees of about R800 per child for the five children who attend a school for children with disabilities. They are also desperate for a sponsor for the HIV medication for two girls at R1 000 each. The previous sponsorship was lost due to the sale of one of the donor’s businesses.
