The body of a 13-year-old boy was found on the railway line near the corner of Albertina Sisulu and Chamdor Roads this morning at about 7.40am.
“He was on his way to fetch his report from school when we last saw him,” his grandfather said on the scene.
It is believed the boy, JC van Loggerenberg, passed Luipaardsvlei Station before falling off the train.
It is not yet known what exactly caused the boy to fall from the train, but it is believed the carriage was overloaded and the boy was pushed out. This has not yet been confirmed by police.
The family of the boy were called to the scene to identify his body. His mother was with him moments before he passed away. Railway police denied access to the scene and the family was still waiting close to the scene at about 11.20am.
Railway Police were also still waiting for the forensic pathologist to arrive. The body of the boy was still lying between the two train tracks and the train traffic had not been halted.
Krugersdorp police detectives gathered evidence from the scene and had to move out of the way every time a train passed the scene.
The boy’s family members were sitting in their vehicles mourning the loss of their beloved child so close to Christmas.
