Pet care over the holidays: Kennels

JOBURG – If you are planning on a holiday trip and cannot bring your pets, here is a list of SPCA approved kennels.

Remember your pets over the festive season, if you are leaving them behind, make sure they are well looked after.

If you intend leaving your pets at home, ensure that there is a trustworthy person who will attend to your animals with regards to food, shelter and company.

Also, with lots of celebrating commencing in the area, take care to create a special place for your pets where they can retreat to a safe and quiet area.

Inform your neighbours that someone will be attending to your pets as animal anti-cruelty shelters around the area get many phone calls from concerned residents, claiming that the animals are left alone.

Take note that for the festive season and school holidays you need to book well in advance. This is because the boarding kennels become fully booked several weeks before the time.

In most cases, kennels will require proof of up-to-date vaccinations for the animal.
