Shooting shrouded in mystery

All is not what it seems.

Role players in the crime-fighting community are mum on details surrounding a shooting incident  in Roodekrans that took place either late on Monday night (28 November) or in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Colonel Anesh Maharaj, commander of the Roodepoort Police Station, briefly explained that suspects had broken into the home of a policeman. When they attacked him, he allegedly shot one of the suspects. The suspect was arrested. According to Maharaj the police member came off unscathed.

The Record’s suspicions were aroused though by some of its usually keen and reliable sources’ behaviour. Two sources refused to give out information on the incident, calling the investigation “sensitive” and another one said he could not talk about it as “it was a huge f**kup”. This is out of the ordinary as the very same sources often supply the Record with information on scores of armed robberies.
